The Illinois Shines Program helps fund solar projects through SREC’s or Solar Renewable Energy Credits. One SREC equals 1MW of solar energy production. Fifteen years of estimated SREC production from a solar facility is purchased upon installation completion and part 2 application approval or quarterly over the course of 7-years depending on the solar facility size. SREC production estimation is determined using advanced solar software that is site specific. Funding amounts for most residential client’s range between $8,000-$30,000 and commercial projects up to 5 million.
